This summer, researchers at the University of Maribor in Slovenia will study how cells grow and survive in the prototype.

New Harvest Fellow Dr. Ricardo Gouveia is guest editing a special issue of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences devoted entirely to cellular agriculture. This issue, entitled "Current Advances in Cellular Agriculture," welcomes articles with a strong focus on cell and stem cell biology, microbiology, molecular and synthetic biology, and biochemical/metabolic engineering, as well as other intersecting topics related to promoting the advancement of cellular agriculture. The deadline for manuscript submissions is November 30, 2020.

Stephanie Kawecki is a New Harvest Research Fellow pioneering a method for growing muscle and fat cells together at UCLA. Having previously interned at Beyond Meat, where she compared compounds in the company’s signature plant-based meat products to compounds in actual meat, Stephanie has experience in both the plant-based and cell-based meat industries.

On July 20 and 21st, we held the 3rd New Harvest cellular agriculture conference at the MIT Media Lab. 

The New Harvest team travelled to D.C. last week, to participate in the FDA’s much-anticipated public meeting on Foods Produced Using Animal Cell Culture Technology, held on July 12th. Our Executive Director Isha Datar was invited to speak on a panel, and Research Director Kate Krueger delivered a public comment.
