How to Get Started
Creating a legacy gift is personal and thoughtful. We recommend working with a financial advisor and a lawyer to make sure your plans reflect your priorities and provide for your loved ones.
Legacy gifts of any size can make a meaningful impact—and may offer tax benefits for you and your family.
Two Simple Ways to Give
1. Residual Bequest
Leave a percentage of what remains in your estate after other gifts and expenses are distributed.
Sample language:
“I bequeath _______% of the residue of my estate to New Harvest (U.S. EIN: 20-1425438, 1401 21st Street, Suite 4556, Sacramento, CA 95811) or New Harvest Canada (Charity #711985135 RR0001, 9826 77 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 1M4) to support its work advancing cellular agriculture for the public good.”
2. Specific Bequest
Leave a fixed amount, percentage of your estate, or a particular asset (such as real estate or artwork).
Sample language:
“I give the sum of $_______ (or % of my estate, or a description of property) to New Harvest (EIN: 20-1425438) or New Harvest Canada (Charity #711985135 RR0001) to support its work advancing cellular agriculture for the public good.”
Tip: You can also include “contingent” gifts that only take effect if a named beneficiary does not survive you. Your lawyer can help with this.
Other Gift Options
Looking to support New Harvest while also meeting your financial needs today? Consider these flexible giving options:
Life Insurance: Name New Harvest as a beneficiary or transfer ownership of a policy.
Retirement Funds: Designate New Harvest as a beneficiary of your IRA (U.S.), RRSP, or RRIF (Canada).
Charitable Remainder Trusts: Provide income for you or your family while creating a future gift.
(U.S. only) Charitable Lead Trusts and IRA Charitable Rollovers: Special options that may offer tax benefits and preserve assets for heirs.
