Julia Chen

Reducetarian Fellow

Julia is a junior at the University of Maryland studying Food Science and Business. Growing up she spent lots of time out in nature and caring for ducks, and through those experiences she became committed to building a world that is kinder to people, animals, and the planet. Her interests in science, food, and sustainability converged to bring her into the field of food science and then cellular agriculture.

Julia is currently a fellow at the Reducetarian Foundation and an undergraduate researcher in food microbiology. She has interned in food safety for fermented food production, reviewed funding proposals for the University of Maryland Sustainability Fund, and secured grants for school-based food rescue initiatives. In her free time, Julia enjoys watercolor illustration, festivals, and good food with friends.
